kids said the darnest things

Every morning when i sent my boys to school, i will have a small talk with the teacher on the boys, how are they doing and are they naughty in the school. Sometime no report from the teachers means they are ok.

Last week when i sent them to school, suddenly my boys class teacher ask me " I don't know where your boy pick up this word." My heart skip a bit and think OMG! What my boys did again at school. Their teacher told me, the day before, she was away for a while and she overheard Cruz said "where is aunty Susan? Why so long one? She DIE already ar?" OMG OMG OMG!!! I don't know what to said when the teacher tell me this. I said..."hmmm..he (Cruz) might pick up this word from the cousins or we adults or the TV" Teacher ask "does he know what is the meaning of DIE?" I said " ya, "I think" he know what is DIE, but use at the wrong place and wrong time and wrong phase" :( The teacher didn't look very angry or sad, maybe she find it's "a bit funny"? After i go into the car i think back, i had a good laugh myself. *bad bad bad*!!!

Night time, before bed time, i talk to Cruz, I said "you cannot simply said people DIE, you know what is DIE? DIE is you forever or long long long time cannot see that person again or no more that person again and you cannot said your teacher DIE, ok?" He nodded his head and said "ok, but, aunty Susan go long long time no come back ma" I have to tell him again" that is not DIE, is not come back." Aiyooo...now everyday i have to remind him, cannot simply said people DIE ok? After i read Sasha's blog about her dog died, and how she explain to her boy, this morning i said the same things to Cruz again. I said "once a person died, we will put the person in a big box and buried under the "sand" so we no more see that person anymore" Cruz said"so we put some water on the sand?" He must be thinking playing sand at the beach. :(:( This will go no end, but i will try my very best to explain to him what is DIE.

My son knows what's the meaning of 'DIE'... because back in July 2009, my house was on fire, and me, my husband and my son almost died inside. So my son knows what that word means-cuz almost die ma. LOL...

And recently, he grew new teeth and the baby teeth fall out...mouth was full of blood, and he thought he'll die because of bleeding too much. LOL...

So must not simply say or socld out DIE now...but sometimes, it is no wrong to add it into the conversation, but it doesn't bring it to DIE...

Hahahahahahaha... put water on the sand? So funny la Cruz! And he answer you "Aunty Susan long long time no come back ma!" - Mummy kena balik... hahahahaha

Both my kids used to say a lot of DIE word too... now they say PENGSAN instead cos grandparents don't like to hear the DIE word. At times, HQ said "but it's not pengsan, really die already!" - dilemma, dilemma...

I think ur boy is just purely asking a question when he did not saw Aunty Susan for a long time and he doesn't know where or wat she is. So he just blunted out a possibility he knows.

Hope u won't scold him. Some parents just use fear on their child when their children say something they don't like.

cleffairy: OMG!! Sorry to hear about your house on fire, lucky three of you are ok. I'm sure it is so scary and it will keep in your mind forever? Did you blog about it? I should go to your blog and read back.Huh? Baby teeth fall out already? So fast?

lemonjude: we did not scold any "die" word, but sometime will use that word or when see movie or tv will see those people died? That is how they pick up the word, but just use it at the "wrong time" :(

BoeyJoey: Put water on the sand? You know when play at the beach, sometime we like to put sand all over the body and like "buried" the body in the sand? So kids will like to put water on top? This is what Cruz meant. :( Kids ar, always make us speechless.

Kelvin: No, i didn't scold him, but i explain to him, that word cannot use too often and only "applicable" to certain things. Actually i find him funny to use this word, that is why i cannot control myself and laugh at it. :)

STP & smallkucing: YES! Only can blame they are too innocent. Like you said, at least not 4-letter word, if not i will faint!

2ma: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA, you know what? This morning, the kindy door was locked, because all teachers came late today so we waited a while, when i told them teacher was late today, Cruz said again, teacher go hospital??? *faint faint*

When I explain to my kids about the life cycle, how you grow up, become old, die they say "I don't want you to become por por. I don't want you to die." Alamak. Its really hard to explain to them about death.

My kids use a lot of "die" word at home too, esp when they're playing (kill each other hahaha). Hope they dun use it inappropriately outside. :p

die.. he so funny..

ryeli said...

wah, i thot for a moment there it was a bad word but then again, 'die' also not a good word hor.

rye li knows what is dying as she's been to my grandparents' funeral before. she knows it's associated with heaven which is located up there in the sky. she knows about MJ's death and lately, she said she doesnt want to die as she is scared of pain. sigh...my intentions to teach her about death is to know about and not be scared about it so i'm telling her that death got no pain one. not easy explaining to kids eh.
