our "chap goh meh"..

We had a wonderful and fruitful "chap goh meh" - 15th days/last day of chinese new year. We start the day with lion dance at my hub working place. Every year they will get lion troupe to the market and perform, last year they also get the same one.

I ask Elaine to come along, as she told me Amber love to see lion dance and she love chinese new year, i told her every year at the market got lion dance, ask her to come if she can make it. Now let the pictures do the talking.

This year, since Sunday also the last day of chinese new year, so they make it more happening, they light 8 stripe of fire crackers!! We are truly enjoy the bing bing bang bang and the loud sound!

(picture from Elaine, i didn't take much, because i am busy video-ing)

After the fire crackers at the entrance, the lion troupe proceed to the centre of the market to perform lion dance.

Younger bil is the committee of the market (the one in red shirt)

it's so so hot, look at the kids, they are sweating!

After the main market, then there will be individual stalls, those will get the lion to "dance" and get the good luck for the whole year. Our family stall also get the lion troupe to come every year. While waiting for the lion to come, my boys pose in with the lion head.

got style??

they took down this big pineapple chinese new year deco, Cruz try to carry it and pose with it.

Fearles's turn....so heavy.....

now...Amber's turn....yummy!!!

trying very hard to "eat" the lettuce.....but cannot get...

finally, he got it!!

lion pass the "gift" to second brother in law...

after the lion dance, another round fire crackers!

After spending about 2 hours plus in the market enjoy the lion dance, we have to rush back and prepare the dinner for that night.

this is the dinner for "chap goh meh", we had yee sang, vege, prawns, steam chicken, fried meat, fish and chinese sausage.

After dinner, we light the lantern, hmmm...we call it 孔明灯, i don't know what it call in english. I saw it before in the sky, but not in real. Brother in law bought a few this year , and we light it on that night. All kids are excited and adults too! ahhahahhahahhahahah

cruz pose with the lantern before we light it .

That is how we celebrate our chap goh meh!

I should delete this post, otherwise.....like my reply to Eugene, actually for the fire crackers, we did apply for the license, so we got the green light to light it. Wah! Saw that in somebody's blog - probably Elaine's. You cooked all the food kah? Wah! Look like restaurant one - really got standard, not like my kampong one. LOL!!! Btw, I thought those lanterns banned - may cause problems to aeroplanes or something.

suituapui said...

Hah!!! Got some people mentioning that already...plus firecrackers some more! LOL!!!

cleffairy said...

Yep... it's illegal, Annie. LOL... see, Voon oso know. LOL... it's declared illegal a few years back, cuz it disrupt the course of the flight. You see... the lights coming from the kong ming deng can easily confuse pilot, especially when they fly around the vicinity of the airport airspace. LOL...what seems fun to us...could actually cost lives. And if you're not careful, the kong ming deng can also burn houses. We may release the lantern at an open field or airspace, but the wind might bring them elsewhere. :( So, it is illegal to play kong ming deng in Malaysia.

Haha. Really nice to see eight crackers lighted at one go. I miss lion dance. This CNY I didn't even had a chance to see a lion dance show. Miss the good old times when there are plenty of lion dances group going from house to house in CNY in small lorries.
