Food from Sibu

My mum was here last Sunday for a week holidays. She is still here, that explain why i am slow in updating my blog and also blog hopping. As usual everytime when she come, she will bring lots of food from Sibu for me. Let see this time what she bring.....

8kg fresh big prawns from Sibu for my parent in law...

some Sarawak Laksa paste for my friend from oversea, she will be coming back for holidays this month.

now is "Dabai" season...so i get to eat "Dabai" again!

of course not forget the famous Kampua!!! Yum!! There are three type of kampua. LOL!

Kompia.....

"ang chau" - *link source from nyonyachef blog*, this is the residue after you process the rice red wine. You can marinate the meat with the residue and fried the meat, another yummylicious dish. The meat is good to go with a glass of beer or with rice.

Foochow red rice wine!! YUMMY!!!!!!!

What we do with the big prawns? Once my mum arrived, we defrost and cook the prawns immediately and keep it in our tummy. We cooked "sang har noodles", sister in law can cook this dish well, and i learn how to cook this dish from her.

we split the prawns to half..

this is the yummylicious sang har noodles.......

Are you drooling now???? :)

Kucing, the Sabah ones - giant tiger prawns...sea ones, not the same and I think, more expensive there. These are udang galah, freshwater prawns. So big - over RM20 a kg! Ummm....Annie, I don't quite like that sambal laksa but the best one - Swallow Brand, no longer available. Changed the name to Barrett and I hear the quality has dropped too. Wah! So many things...really eat till meletup! Hahahahahaha!

mNhL: nice noodles? hahhahaha, can consider open a stall and sell "har mien" hor? LOL! At least your mum nearer to you, mine is far. :(

smallkucing: not sure is it the same, to me, prawns all look the same. hahahhahaha, according to my mum this is call "tai tau har" - big head prawns? Very rare can get, it happen one day before she fly off, she saw and buy it. Actually can get from KL also but slightly expensive.

prince n princess mum: hehehe..sorry to make you drool. :)

Bryan and Brandon's mama: don jeles don jeles. :)

CH Voon: ask your mama bring the food you missed!!

STP: Like i said to small kucing, i don't know what prawns is this, i only know "prawns", my mum said is "big head prawns" not much meat, prawns head is big if you like to eat the prawns head.
Laksa paste, actually i don't know which one is good, not really fancy about laksa. My mum said last time there was "two birds" on the packaging taste good, but now no more only left "one bird" hahahha, but she don't know which brand, but someone told her this brand is good wor?
Dabai season just start, my mum said quite expensive now!

Shenny's mommy: sorry to make you hungry!!

Agnes: hahahhahah, yes, it's torturing when reading food blog at night. That's why i don't read any food blog at night, but sometime accidently click it, i have to go and look for something to munch!

Pete: hahahha, hard to get Sibu food here ma. :)

Cleffairy: What are you doing at 2am, still not sleep??? Yea, everytime my mum come, she will bring tons of food for me, beside than all these, i forgot to mention, she bring chicken and duck too!!! hahahhaha, not that cannot get the chicken and duck here, but the taste sure taste a lot different. Really!
Hee hee, surprise? I like to give people surprise and "shock" them. LOL! No worries, hope you like the peppercorn, just a small packet la. :)

L'abeille: hehehhe, me and my sister in law cooking not bad hor? :P *thick skin*
Dabai only can get in Sarawak, it's a season fruit, taste ar..hmm..don't know how to describe, not sweet but a maybe a little bit "kam kam", got it's own unique taste.

janice: hahahhahahha, food calling "come come Janice, come and eat me".

reanaclaire: Black things? Are you referring to dabai? Those are Dabai not seaweed. Dabai is a type of fruits grow in Sarawak, it's seasonal fruits, now it's time for Dabai. Yummy!

Chicken and ducks??? *pengsan* Taste different? You mean your mum brought you kampung chicken? The chicken must have lived in a healthier environment, that's why taste different.

LOL... on and off I'll burn the midnight oil... so sometimes can see me lurk around in the wee hours. LOL.

suituapui said...

Annie Q said...

mommy to chumsy: ok ok, noted! Next round, i will get some kompia for you. :)

cleffairy: hahahhaha, your hub must be thinking i am mad, sending people "peppercorn" instead of some nice gift. LOL!!! Chicken in Sarawak, "exercise" a lot, their meat more tough and smaller size, it's real "kampung" chicken.

STP: heheheheh, you also in-directly hinting, i am getting fatter and fatter ya? Very well fattened! LOL

coffeesncookies: ya ya, last year my mum also in town around this time, it's dabai season.
Elaine, 8kg prawns actually not a lot, my mum said 3 prawns already 1kg, we didn't cook finish, i think still left 5-6 inside the freezer. For kampua, my boys had some for dinner, and i keep the rest for next day lunch! LOL!!! Aiyo, so little food how to invite you all come lei? Next time, follow me go back to Sibu, eat till you drop!

MK mummy: san har noodle recipe ar, we just agak agak, no actual recipe to follow wor, maybe i will e mail you the "agak agak" recipe. :)

jacss: ooooppppsss...sorry. Lately post will be most on food! :(

laundryamah: you are on diet, me after this, have to work out more harder at gym!!!
